The Trial of Soul is an extra game mode where the player will be able to challenge any boss or boss combinations from Game Mode.
How to unlock?[]
The player must defeat the boss “???” in Rainbow Plains. After this, a new button will be available in the menu.
Characters[]
Upon entering Trial of Soul, the player may chose from 3 characters: Renee, 42 or Karsa. Each of them offer an unique playstyle and a new challenge. The statistics from playing one character do not transfer to the others, so the player can attempt the trial with all of them.
Renee[]
Renee, alongside Ifree, is the main character of the main game. In this mode, Renee will be able to choose various builds with limited and re-balanced equipment, listed bellow. She will also have the talent tree maxed-out, almost all of the Afterimages available with 6 divine seeds, all the weapon arts, the Mysterious Mask and Rebirth, the Spiral Return primeval glyph in inventory. She will have level 99, with 13 heals.
As equipment, Renee can choose from 8 blades, 8 whips, 8 dualblades, 8 greatswords, 8 scythes and 9 swords. For the magic weapons, she has 3 wands, 6 staffs, 3 scrolls and 6 spellbooks. For armor, she has 8 pieces for each head chest and feet and 47 accessories.
42[]
That silent guy? Don't worry about her, she is able to open the door to get here, she must be super powerful! I just don't quite understand why she would want to come to a place like this...
42 is the main character of the New Game +. She will use powerful Crystalization Spells to defeat the enemies, without having access to equipment or talents, similar to New Game +.
Karsa[]
This place seems quite mysterious, probably hiding a lot of interesting treasures! Brenda, are you ready for this brand new adventure?
Karsa, alongside Brenda, can be encountered first in the main game, where they will try to find a treasure. In Trial of Soul, the player will have access to special combos, without being able to change his equipment. When first entering the trial with Karsa, the combos will be displayed automatically and can be revisited from the menu.

| Phantom Strike | Karsa blinks in mid-air, performing multiple phantomic attacks and finishes with a downwards slash. Karsa is invincible during his phantomic attacks. While in Flowing Stance, this skill will be enhanced. | ||
| Mighty Blow | Karsa performs a heavy attack and enters Flow Stance. If Mighty Blow hits an enemy, Karsa will recover some MP. If Karsa is attacked at the very moment of this move, he will take no damage and recover some MP. | ||
| Reflex Parry | Karsa defends with his sword and enters Free Stance. During this move, Karsa can block enemy attacks. If Karsa is attacked at the very moment of this move, he will immediately perform Phantom Counter and recover some MP. | ||
| Flowing Stance | Karsa focuses his concentration and prepares to launch waves of powerful moves. After using Mighty Blow, Karsa will automatically enter Flowing Stance and rapidly consumes MP while all his techniques are enhanced. If MP is depleted, Karsa will automatically return to Free Stance. | ||
| Free Stance | Karsa finishes his powerful moves and begins to recover his energy. After using Reflex Parry, Karsa will automatically enter Free Stance and recover a certain amount of MP every time he hits an enemy. |
